Police report four individuals stole a University of Wisconsin-Madison Football Offices sign from Camp Randall Stadium Sunday.
The UW-Madison Police Department has currently not identified any suspects since the sign was taken late at night, UWPD Spokesperson Marc Lovicott said, but the department hopes people will come forward with information.
“We have no idea, that’s why we want to reach out to the community,” Lovicott said. “We want to let folks know that the sign is missing. It shouldn’t be there, it should be at Camp Randall where it belongs.”
If identified, suspects could be cited with UW-Madison code violations, as well as trespassing charges.
Lovicott also said the motivations behind the theft remain unknown.
“People have all sorts of reasons for taking things,” he explained. “It may be a prank, or someone redecorating their house or dorm room, but it’s illegal to do something like that, and we have laws in place. In any case, the athletic department wants it back.”
