Burglars stole a $35,000 piece of surveying equipment from a construction company office on 400 block West Johnson Street at an unknown time over the weekend, Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said in a release.
The equipment belongs to North American Mechanical, Inc., one of the contractors working on an apartment project underway at the corner of Broom Street and West Johnson Street, according to the release. The stolen property is used to digitally map buildings under construction so workers know where to install heating ducts and other infrastructure.
Madison Police Department urges anyone with information concerning the theft to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
