Longtime University of Wisconsin-Madison Housing Director Paul Evans announced Thursday he will retire in late May, according to a report.
Evans joined university housing in 1978 and has served as the division’s director since 1998.
The report credits Evans with helping to guide university housing through a time of “renewal and growth” by revitalizing older residence hall and developing new ones. Housing also established nine residential learning communities during Evans’ tenure.
“[Evans’] steady leadership has been instrumental to the success of the division,” Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Darrell Bazzell said in the report. “He leaves very big shoes to fill.”
Housing has formed a search and screen committee to fill the position.
