Michael Pierce announced his Republican candidacy Tuesday to run for Wisconsin’s state Assembly’s 20th District in November.
Pierce said in a press release, the duty of legislators is to “foster” economic growth, create jobs, provide quality education and lower taxes for Wisconsin residents. Pierce also said he will use his passion and work ethic demonstrated in the United States Air Force to serve his constituents.
The former U.S. Air Force colonel stressed the need to maintain professionalism in state politics to ensure legislation is constructive and positive.
“The lack of professionalism will impact dialogue, and that will impact everything else [in the Capitol],” Pierce said.
Pierce served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and has also served as Chief of the Air Force Reserve at the Pentagon.
Pierce currently advocates for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and several other veteran programs.
