University of Wisconsin-Extension announced Tuesday UW-Madison and UW-Extension joint administrator John Shutske will begin serving as the new interim provost and vice chancellor Feb. 17, according to a release.
Current UW System president Ray Cross vacated his position as UW Colleges and UW-Extension chancellor, which Aaron Brower filled. Now, Shutske will take over Brower’s previous position.
Brower said in the release Shutske’s knowledge, leadership and communication skills will “help keep UW-Extension moving forward to serve the state.”
“I look forward to working with our other UW System partners and supporting our UW-Extension deans and divisional directors as we build and grow one of the important and diverse two-way channels for the Wisconsin Idea,” Shutske said in the release.
Shutske is responsible for county educational programs as well as UW-Extension and the applied research activities of UW-Madison, UW-Platteville and UW-River Falls.
UW-Extension expects to announce an interim program director and associate dean in the next few weeks.
