University of Wisconsin System President Raymond Cross launched his tenure in the new university position with the appointment of his chief of staff.
According to a press release from the system, Jessica Tormey will begin the role as liaison March 3. The responsibilities outline Tormey acting as a link between Cross and “the Board of Regents, chancellors, legislators, business leaders and donors.”
Tormey previously served as assistant vice chancellor for communications and external relations under Cross for UW Colleges and UW-Extension, and has worked with the system in the past with governmental relations. Cross said in the release her skills concerning fostering relationships and partnerships will serve her well in the position.
“I’m honored to be chosen for this leadership role,” Tormey said in the release. “I welcome this opportunity to collaborate with President Cross and my UW System colleagues as we explore new ways to connect the people of Wisconsin and the resources of this great University of Wisconsin System.”
