The University of Wisconsin-Madison will hold Design Summit 3 Thursday, a forum focusing on “human-centered design” and innovation, with the intent of fostering conversation between researchers at UW-Madison and associates in the industry, according to a university press release.
The keynote speech, “What’s the Human in Human-Centered Design?,” will be given by Michael Shanks, Stanford archaeology and design professor, the release stated.
Additionally, the summit will offer brief lectures by designers working for Trek Bicycle, Kohler and Filene Research Institute.
The forum will also feature speakers who will lead discussion about the place of design in higher education, the release stated. These will include Provost Paul DeLuca, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Darrell Bazzell and other campus deans.
The event will take place at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery’s H.F. DeLuca Forum from 4-7 p.m. and is open to UW-Madison faculty and staff. A number of seats will also be reserved for Wisconsin-based business and design professionals, according to the release.
