A new social media site was recently launched that features a required background check from all users to provide a safe online environment to meet local acquaintances and plan social activities, according to a press release.
The new website, FirstInteractions.com, was founded by entrepreneur Cynthia Tercier. According to the release, Tercier came up with the idea when she was still a student and sought a means to organize her free time with friends more efficiently.
The website allows users to schedule gatherings based on their “own mutual availability,” according to the release.
In order to register, users are required to consent to a full background check. Tercier said in the release that women consider safety to be the biggest drawback from meeting people on the web. The background checks address the danger of face-to-face interactions and ensure safety for all users, unlike many social media sites, according to the release.
College students are strongly encouraged by the creators to utilize the site that promotes organized activity groups. Tercier said the website is preferred among college students since it allows individuals to explore new activities with people of similar interests.
