An Associated Students of Madison committee presented its 2015 transportation budget to the Student Services Finance Committee at a meeting Thursday.
The proposed budget is $4,256,200, which is $28,300 more than the estimated budget for the 2014 fiscal year.
The transportation budget is composed of all ASM-funded transportation, including the campus buses.
“The number one program, the most expensive, that people use the most is the free-ride pass program,” said ASM Bus Pass Advisor Margaret Bergamini.
According to Bergamini, students are the largest identifiable users of the bus system. Students take between four and five million rides on the bus.
The committee will decide on the transportation budget at its meeting Monday.
SSFC also gave feedback on the recent draft of the General Student Services Fund eligibility criteria.
Representatives had many suggestions on how to improve the draft, including more effort to create a better definition for “core programming.”
Many representatives also expressed their support of the new criteria.
“I think [the criteria] are better than what we have now,” said SSFC Rep. Elizabeth Olsen. “I think they are less punitive and also open up the GSSF to have more potential … I just think it is really great.”
SSFC Chair David Vines plans to revise the draft and hopes to receive a final vote next Thursday. Once SSFC votes on the draft, the goal is for student council to consider it after spring break.
The committee also unanimously approved Atheists, Humanists & Agnostics' budget alteration.
