UW-Madison ranked 28th among universities worldwide

The Times Higher Education, a London-based publication, ranked the University of Wisconsin-Madison 28th among the world’s top 100 universities.

“We’re very proud of being a world-class institution that offers students an exceptional education,” Provost Paul DeLuca said in a release. “It is an honor to once again be recognized as a leader in teaching and in research.”

In the invitation-only academic opinion survey, UW-Madison moved up two spots from 2013. However, the overall score went down from 10.7 to 10.2.

The survey values teaching, research and overall reputations based solely on the subjective judgement of “senior, published academics—the people best placed to know the most about excellence in our universities,” according to its website.
