Brown County Supervisor David Steffen announced his candidacy for Wisconsin’s 4th Assembly District Monday.
Steffen said his experience as Brown County supervisor and Howard Village trustee has given him practice representing the people in the state’s 4th Assembly District.
Additionally, Steffen said his top priority is to create an environment for businesses that supports economic growth. Steffen also said he supports Gov. Scott Walker’s fiscal initiatives and believes keeping business tax rates at a reasonable level was the key to attracting out-of-state business.
Steffen said limiting the role of government is an important part of economic growth.
“The Village of Howard is an incredible example of how fiscal discipline in government translates into community prosperity,” Steffen said in a statement.
The Ashwaubenon native said he is pro-life and supports legislation that protects the environment. Steffen said his family has maintained a managed-forest program for several decades.
“My family and I understand the value of having a healthy environment,” Steffen said.
Wisconsin state Assembly elections are scheduled for November 2014.
