The National Weather Service announced a flood watch in effect for Madison Sunday at 9:20 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday.
In addition to the heavy rainfall Sunday night, Monday morning is expected to bring snow before 10 a.m. with a slight chance of snow after 4 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, there is a predicted snow accumulation of less than a half inch.
Causes of flooding can be attributed to overflowing rivers and streams, according to a National Weather Service warning. Saturated soils are also potential causes of flooding with additional heavy rain.
The National Weather Service warning also predicts a possibility for “low lying” areas to experience general flooding.
Dane County residents are advised by the National Weather Service to remain attentive to flood warnings. Homes susceptible to flooding should take precautions.
