Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Democrat, visited Wisconsin Friday to endorse Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke, according to a release.
At the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s annual Founders Day Gala in Milwaukee, O’Malley criticized congressman Paul Ryan’s federal budget that passed the chamber Thursday and promoted his own efforts to raise Maryland’s minimum wage, according to a Washington Post article.
O’Malley called Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker a “devoted follower of trickle-down economics,” and addressed Walker’s opposition to raising the minimum wage, according to the article.
Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin Joe Fadness said in a statement he was not surprised by O’Malley’s endorsement considering his history with state-run exchanges and health care plans.
O’Malley has made multiple appearances across the country as he considers a possible presidential run, according to the article. Campaign aides said he is working to help fellow Democrats get elected this year.
