The Associated Students of Madison Student Council heard presentations on a divestment bylaw and Open Book Wisconsin at a meeting Wednesday.
Shared Governance Chair Sarah Neibart and Representative Lila Greenberg presented a proposed boycott and divestment bylaw.
This change would say that ASM supports the boycotting of companies that use fossil fuels and violate human rights privileges.
The goal for the bylaw is to make specific criteria on how to look at divestment resolutions, Niebart said. Student council plans to have the first vote on this bylaw change next week.
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business Services Martha Kerner also presented Open Book Wisconsin which is a website that contains information on state agency spending. The website will be distributed in three phases. Phase one was complete as of Jan. 2 of this year.
According to Kerner, the Wisconsin Department of Administration was required by the state to create this website.
Student Council approved the Student Services Finance Committee internal budget for $153,093 and an ASM budget transfer for $4,000.
The General Student Services Fund eligibility criteria bylaw decision was postponed for the next meeting.
