The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s provost office selected Mark Johnson, assistant professor of educational policy studies, as the new director of Educational Innovation, according to a university release.
Educational Innovation is a campuswide initiative designed to create and sustain enhanced learning opportunities for students, provide global opportunities and serve more Wisconsin students and citizens, according to the release.
Johnson will be responsible for managing the initiative and said he is excited to join.
“[Educational Innovation] has already led to creative and potentially transformational changes here at UW-Madison,” Johnson said in the release. “The many talented faculty and staff who are involved seem inspired by a shared passion for teaching and learning, as well as a spirit of service to the state and the world.”
Johnson has more than 20 years of experience working with higher education reform projects and works in the fields of history, international studies, public diplomacy and educational studies. He will assume the position May 26.
