The University of Wisconsin System created a website this week devoted to answering students’ questions about the new state voting requirements.
Wisconsin’s new state law requires all voters to present a valid ID, creating a potential problem for out-of-state students or those without a Wisconsin state-issued ID.
With the Nov. 4 election day rapidly approaching, the UW System Student Affairs and Academic Support Office, along with System legal staff, created the website with hopes to better explain the new law, according to a UW System statement release Thursday.
The website describes the new student IDs necessary for voting, which include a signature and an expiration date within two years of validation.
Formed specifically for UW students, the homepage is host to a list of frequently asked questions, allowing easy access to understand the new regulations.
In addition to various voting documents, it includes links to government websites further describing the new laws.
