UW Colleges and Lawrence University signed a partnership agreement Wednesday to support students transferring from UW’s two-year colleges to the private liberal arts school.
Officially signed into effect at UW-Fox Valley, the agreement will help students reach scholastic and career goals by providing a smoother transition process, according to a release from both institutions.
The terms of the agreement designate specific areas of specialization for UW college transfer students by Lawrence University, including advising, orientation opportunities, and financial information.
“This agreement is another step in our effort to increase access to a rigorous Lawrence education and help make it affordable to more residents of Wisconsin,” Lawrence University President Mark Burstein said in the statement.
Among the 1,500 students currently attending Lawrence University, only 10 have transferred from UW colleges.
The university said it hopes that the partnership agreement will boost that number by 10 to 15 transfers per year.
