UW-Madison ranks No. 1 worldwide in media and communications studies

The 2014 QS World University Rankings survey named the University of Wisconsin-Madison first in the world for media and communications studies, according to a university release.

Along with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, departments receiving the honor are UW-Madison’s communication arts and life sciences communication programs.

This year’s rank is up from No. 5 last year, according to the release.

QS compiled the ranking based on academic reputation surveys, research productivity and impact indices, employer reputations surveys and student and staff diversity, according to the release. Out of these categories, UW-Madison placed first in academic reputation, research productivity and research impact.

QS is a British company that specializes in higher education and publishes various university rankings annually.
