In honor of UW-Madison’s Multicultural Homecoming, alumnus Winslow Sargeant will deliver the keynote address “What It Really Means to Bring the Victory Home for Diverse Alumni” Saturday, according to a university news release.
This year’s homecoming theme, “Back to Where it All Began," will focus on multicultural diversity and provide events for alumni to reconnect.
Sargeant, a 1995 UW-Madison electrical engineering doctoral graduate, has funded a graduate fellowship that provides financial assistance to a successful African-American doctoral student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed Sargeant as chief counsel for advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He previously worked as a program manager in electronics for the National Science Foundation, an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania and managing director for Venture Investors, LLC.
Sargeant will give the keynote speech at 3:30 p.m. in the DeLuca Forum of the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
