University Health Services is currently in its last week of offering free walk-in flu shots for registered UW-Madison students and will officially end the service Friday.
Vaccinations need two weeks to fully immunize the body against the flu virus, according to a press release. Students will be protected for the next six to nine months, which would include Thanksgiving break and fall finals.
Students need their university identification to get a free shot. All UW-Madison students registered as a degree or special student, including undergraduate, graduate or professional programs, are eligible for a free shot. Only guest students are not eligible.
UHS also offers a painless nasal spray vaccination called FluMist for $5.
UHS is located at 333 East Campus Mall. The Green Clinic, which is hosting the walk-in, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
After Friday, students can still make an appointment to get vaccinated for free.
