Madison’s incumbent Mayor Paul Soglin received an endorsement for his re-election campaign Tuesday from Fire Fighters Local 311, according to a press release.
Fire Fighters Local 311 represents a variety of first responders and emergency personnel in the Madison area as well as its suburbs, including Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie.
“Mayor Soglin understands what first responders need in order to do their jobs and he cares about public safety,” President Mahlon Mitchell said in the release. “He respects what we can bring to the table, he is a straightforward communicator and we appreciate his experience, his love of Madison and his ability to get things done.”
Soglin will be facing Ald. Scott Resnick, District 8, former Ald. Bridget Maniaci, District 2, former Dane County supervisor Richard Brown and UW-Madison graduate Christopher Daly in Feb. 17’s primary, with the two candidates receiving the most votes advancing to April 7’s general election.
