This weekend Anthony Sanders and Daniel Radovanovic stopped by to chat and perform a couple songs for us here at the Nest on Saturday afternoon. They discussed everything from the wacky descriptions given to their main band, The Island of Misfit Toys, by promoters to how their involvement in poetry motivated them to finish high school.
After the interview they performed a couple of songs, including "Say Grace Again" from Radovanovic's side project Stutterbot and The Island of Misfit Toys' "Your Side of The Tracks." Even without the rest of their ensemble, they were able to bring the most out of each song with their singing and acoustic guitar.
The subtle "Say Grace Again" contained excellent vocal harmony between Sanders and Radovanovic, with a simple, yet effective, acoustic guitar, creating an airy atmosphere that matched the uncertainty felt in the lyrics of the song.
"Your Side of the Tracks" highlighted Sanders and Radovanovic's poetry and hip-hop influences as they versed over a comparatively more aggressive guitar riff. Sanders really showed off his pipes in this number that brought out the playful emotions of the song. Check out the music video above.
Thanks to Anthony Sanders and Daniel Radovanovic for coming out to the Nest and putting on a great show. Also special thanks to Emily Buck and Andy Holsteen for filming.
Be sure to check out Sanders and Radovanovic's new poetry collaboration with Spencer LaBute and Andy Holsteen, Luck.
