The Madison Police Department identified and arrested a suspected coat thief using a surveillance video from Whiskey Jacks Saloon on State Street Wednesday, according to a police incident report.
Madison resident Ahmed Saeed H. Al Mutlaq, 21, is suspected of stealing a jacket Sunday from a 21-year-old student who had left it within a pile of jackets.
The surveillance video showed the thief entering Whiskey Jacks wearing one coat and leaving in the stolen coat early in the morning.
According to the report, the victim’s wallet was in the coat pocket. Her credit card was used to make unauthorized purchases before the suspect was apprehended.
