Madison police are investigating reports of a gun-wielding man at JD’s Restaurant on the 300 block of North Bassett Street in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
The suspect involved took out his pistol and allegedly fired it as the dispute, which started between restaurant customers inside JD’s, moved outside, MPD Lt. Eric Tripke wrote in the report. A Madison police officer heard the gunshot and responded immediately.
While no one was shot, there was one battery victim. The victim, a 27-year-old Madison man, was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital, according to Tripke.
Police are still looking for the gun-wielding suspect, described as a bald black man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was reported as wearing jeans and a light blue fitted sweater, according to the report.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Tripke, but police believe those involved knew each other. Police say there is no threat to the general public at this time.
