After quite possibly the most successful regular season in program history, the Badgers were appropriately rewarded by the rest of their conference in the Big Ten basketball honors.
Senior center Frank Kaminsky took home Player of the Year after a season that has him on the shortlists for every national Player of the Year Award. The Lisle, Ill., native finished third in the conference in points per game (18.4), second in field goal percentage (55.9) and also second in rebounds per game (8.1).
Head coach Bo Ryan won the coaches’ vote for Big Ten Coach of the Year while the media gave their award to Maryland’s Mark Turgeon. Ryan’s team had the best marks in the country in both turnovers per game (7.6) and fouls per game (12.5), exemplifying the discipline in play that has defined Ryan’s teams throughout his Wisconsin career.
Junior forward Sam Dekker, redshirt senior guard Josh Gasser and sophomore Nigel Hayes also took home All-Big Ten honors. Dekker made the second team and Gasser made the All-Defensive team, while Hayes was a third-team selection.
