Associated Students of Madison selects new chairs

The Associated Students of Madison Student Council began its 22nd session Friday, electing Madison Laning as its new chair, Kyla Kaplan as vice chair while also electing some grassroot committee chairs.

Laning, the former Finance Committee chair, was elected as ASM chair and said she hopes to continue work with the Diversity Framework, language certificates, the Green Fund and setting an affordable tuition rate for all students.

Kaplan received the ASM Vice Chair position, formerly serving as Sustainability Committee chair.

“I’m really excited to be vice chair, I’m excited to advocate and be a voice so students can come to me as an advocate both in ASM and outside of ASM,” Kaplan said.

Alexander Schultz will continue his role as ASM Secretary in the 22nd session.

Laning, Kaplan and Schultz faced no competitors in their positions and immediately began their duties by leading the rest of the meeting.

The winners of the announced 22nd session ASM committee chairs are listed below, in order they were voted on:

Nominations Board Chair

Matt Walczak
