The Dane County Sheriff’s Department found the body of a missing man Monday morning in Lake Mendota, according to a university release.
Searches by the Sheriff’s Department, Madison Fire Department and UW Lifesaving Station began Saturday at around 6 p.m., when witnesses reported the man jumped off a sailboat and never returned.
Investigations into further details are ongoing and the victim’s name has not yet been released.
In light of the drowning, several Lake Mendota activities have been suspended, including Outdoor UW paddling rentals and sailing through Thursday. Hoofers Sailing Club also suspended sailing lessons and day sails through Friday, according to a club statement.
