Coming off a loss at home to Illinois State last week, Wisconsin battled to double-overtime draws against both Milwaukee and Kentucky while on the road this weekend.
While the Panthers (2-2-1) scored the opening goal in the 12th minute, the Badgers (3-3-2) went on to dominate in terms of shots, clocking in 28 shots to Milwaukee’s four shots by the end of the game.
2015 MAC Hermann Trophy candidate and junior midfielder Rose Lavelle led the Badgers in the shot count with one of her eight attempts coming dangerously close to going in, but it was thwarted by the right goal post.
It was freshman midfielder Victoria Pickett who successfully volleyed the ball into the back of the net to equalize in the 58th minute after a failed attempt by a Panther defender to head and deflect the ball away from junior Micaela Powers’ throw-in.
However, after equalizing, UW was unable to take the lead in Friday night’s game.
In Sunday’s game against Kentucky (6-1-1), the Badgers once again outshot the Wildcats 12-9, although the game remained scoreless with neither offensive side able to break through.
Kentucky, however, held the 4-2 edge in shots on goal, forcing redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem to make four saves to maintain the clean sheet.
With the ties earned this weekend, the Badgers have not been defeated in overtime for a 10-game stretch, going back to the 2014 season.
With Big Ten Conference play beginning next week, the Badgers, on the road once again, will challenge No. 7 Penn State Thursday and No. 15 Ohio State Sunday.
