UW-Madison alumnus Matthew Mayrl is UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank’s new chief of staff, according to a Tuesday university press release.
With a background in public sector management, Mayrl will manage staff in the Office of the Chancellor, handle special projects and represent Blank around campus, according to the release.
“The University of Wisconsin helped ignite my interest in public service,” Mayrl said in the release. “I’m honored to return to campus and help advance Chancellor Blank’s vision for the university.”
After graduating from UW-Madison in 2004 and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government with a master’s degree in public policy in 2008, Mayrl began working for the City of Boston. He later served as the chief of staff in the Boston Public Works Department, according to the release.
With many other positions within the Boston government under his belt, Blank said in the release she is looking forward t Mayrl’s work on campus.
