A Madison driver was arrested Saturday afternoon after running his car into a parked vehicle near the intersection of Hoard Street and Oak Street, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
Police identified the driver as 20-year-old Raymond A. Morel, according to the report. After the crash, Romel abandoned the car as it began smoking due to damage on the front of the vehicle.
Romel was subsequently apprehended after a brief foot chase near Madison East High School.
Prior to the crash, Romel had run a stop light and stop sign in the residential neighborhood, Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain said in the release. Romel was ultimately arrested on multiple charges including reckless driving, eluding an officer, resisting arrest and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.
