Wisconsin has reportedly found its replacement for Dave Aranda. Footballscoop.com is reporting that the former UW and current LSU defensive coordinator’s void will be filled by Justin Wilcox, USC’s defensive coordinator in 2015.
Wilcox followed former Trojan head coach Steve Sarkisian to USC in 2013 after serving as Sarkisian’s defensive coordinator at Washington for one season in 2012. The defensive coordinator remained in his position after Sarkisian was fired in October, but was let go a day after the Trojans’ 41-22 loss to Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game Dec. 5.
Wilcox inherits one of the top defenses in not only the Big Ten, but the entire nation. Aranda led the Badgers to top-10 finishes in total scoring, rushing, passing and total defense in the country in 2015. UW graduates four starters on that side of the ball, but stalwarts like linebacker Vince Biegel, defensive end Chikwe Obasih and cornerback Sojourn Shelton are returning.
