The Madison Police Department released information Tuesday on Xavier Davis, 20, who is a suspected gang member with a history of unlawfully carrying concealed weapons.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and also wanted on multiple bench warrants for failing to appear in court for the following charges: adjudicated delinquent in possession of a firearm, possession with Intent to deliver heroin, felony bail jumping and resisting a peace officer.
In an annual report from 2009, former MPD Police Chief Noble Wray stated that one of the main initiatives for the department in 2010 was to develop a unit known as the Madison Gang Unit. The unit responds to citywide gangs and crime in a comprehensive manner utilizing prevention, intervention, suppression and re-entry strategies.
Being that gang violence is still a pressing issue today, MPD urges anyone with information about Xavier Davis to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
