Members of the UW-Madison administration issued a statement Thursday on the Jan. 26 incident in Sellery Hall in which students taped pictures of Hitler and swastikas to resident’s door.
University Housing and the Division of Student Life quickly responded to the event, according to the statement, and an email was sent to residents of Sellery Hall notifying them of the incident.
The statement said that one of the core values of the UW-Madison community “is to ensure that every person feels safe, welcomed, valued, and supported” and then provided resources to report other incidents of hate or bias.
The statement came after a Facebook post detailing the incident went viral.
Vice Provost and Dean of Students Lori Berquam, Director of the Multicultural Student Center Joshua Johnson, Director of University Housing Jeff Novak and Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer Patrick Sims signed the statement.
