Madison police arrested Darrick R. Thompson, 21, for shooting a 20-year-old man in the leg Monday, according to an incident report.
The Violent Crimes Unit investigated the south-side shooting after shots were reported and the victim showed up at the hospital with a gun wound around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
The shooting occurred on the 2000 block of Taft Street while the victim was in his car. Thompson and the victim know each other, according to the report.
MPD officers arrested Thompson for first degree reckless endangering safety, which is a felony. If Thompson is tried and convicted, he could go to prison for a maximum of 12 years and six months, according to the Wisconsin statute.
Madison police have recovered multiple weapons and say the investigation is ongoing. The report did not specify if the incident was gang-related.
