Madison woman arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $2,000 worth of liquor

Madison police arrested Kenya Lemons Saturday on charges of $1,800 in retail theft and eluding, among other minor charges and citations, according to a department incident report.

Police responded to a call from a Target security officer at 4301 Lien Rd, who allegedly spotted Lemons leaving the store with two bottles of high-end liquor she didn't paid for. He immediately called in the suspect’s plate number.

A responding officer then located the car on East Towne Way. After a short police chase, the suspect’s car was found stopped at the intersection of Mesta Lane and Wintergreen Drive. The suspect attempted to escape on foot, but was caught soon after by another officer.

Police found a male passenger in the car and arrested him at the scene. He and Kenya Lemons are now facing several charges and citations. Lemons is suspected of being responsible for six similar thefts at the same Target store.
