A fire that started early Monday morning out on the 800 block of Stewart Street is under investigation, according to a Madison Fire Department release.
A witness called 911 after seeing black smoke and orange flames coming from a single-story building, according to the release.
The fire department arrived at 5:03 a.m. At this point, flames had shot through the roof and engulfed more than 50 percent of the building, and two nearby cars and a power line were also on fire.
Officers say the cinder block construction of the building helped to contain the fire, giving firefighters a focal point to put out the flames. They were able to put it out after about 30 minutes, according to the release.
The building is occupied by Harmony Electric Company and an unnamed auto shop. The department reported no one was injured during the fire.
