Several graduate programs at UW-Madison ranked among the top in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 edition of “Best Graduate Schools,” according to a Wednesday university release.
High-ranking programs include the School of Education, which ranked fourth, up from fifth in last year’s report. Several specialty programs within the school also received high marks, including a first place ranking for curriculum and instruction and educational psychology.
The School of Business also moved up in the ranks, tying for 27th in top MBA programs and 22nd for part-time MBA programs.
The College of Engineering received top rankings in several categories, including fourth place in nuclear engineering and sixth place for chemical engineering. The college ranked 14th overall, not moving from last year’s edition.
William Karpus, dean of UW-Madison’s graduate school, praised the programs for their breadth and depth of study.
“UW-Madison offers advanced study in a large number of graduate programs that touch almost every area of arts and humanities as well as the social, physical and biological sciences," Karpus said in the release. "This type of recognition is a reflection of the outstanding faculty, the field-advancing research that they do and the quality of mentoring they provide to our talented graduate students."
