The University of Wisconsin Police Department is investigating a racist graffiti image found Monday in the first floor restroom of the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery, according to UWPD Public Information Officer Marc Lovicott.
The graffiti was found around 7:20 p.m. Lovicott estimates the image was drawn late afternoon Monday between 3:30 and 7 p.m.
UWPD has looked into surveillance footage from WID, but was unable to find any evidence. According to Lovicott, UWPD is launching an open investigation and invites any member of the public with information about the incident to come forward.
The racist drawing follows a string of recent reports of discrimination on campus, including an altercation at Sellery Residence Hall, an incident in which Native American students were mocked during a healing circle outside Dejope Residence Hall, an altercation outside of the Student Activity Center and an anti-semitic incident at Sellery Residence Hall.
