The UW Board of Regents will honor the 2016 recipients of the Academic Staff Awards for Excellence at its board meeting April 8 in Green Bay.
It is the highest recognition for academic staff in the UW system, and the winners also receive a financial award of $5,000, according to a UW System release.
This year’s recipients include UW-Madison psychology professor Linnea Burk, UW-River Falls administrative specialist Michael Martin and the UW-Green Bay Cofrin Library.
Burk worked as a clinical assistant professor at UW-Madison in 2009 and is now the director of the Psychology Clinic, working to enhance the educational and outreach capabilities of the clinic.
According to a UW System release, Burk “manages staff, provides clinical support for clients, trains graduate students from the Department of Psychology’s program and other campus professional programs, and maintains the physical, fiscal, educational, and legal infrastructure of this community-oriented mental health clinic.”
The release also stated Burk’s development of yearly and continuous educational workshops provides resources for students in the psychology department and other campus professional programs, noting “the fiscal health of the self-sustaining clinic is at an all-time high.”
