Election notebook: Cruz releases new TV ad, candidates plan stops

Scott Walker stars in new TV ad

Scott Walker showed his support for Ted Cruz in his new TV ad released Thursday, encouraging voters to join him in voting for Cruz in the April 5 Wisconsin primaries.

Walker declared he is supporting the “constitutional conservative” because he will protect jobs, freedom and national security as well as “challenge the status quo” that Wisconsin has done.

In his closing line, Walker said that Cruz is the only conservative that can beat Hillary Clinton in a general election. While it is unclear that Walker’s endorsement has helped Cruz, a Fox Business poll released Thursday shows Cruz leading business mogul Donald Trump, 42 percent to 32.

Candidates announce events as primary looms

As the Wisconsin primaries approach next Tuesday, the presidential candidates are hosting events throughout the state.

  • Friday, April 1, John Kasich and Ted Cruz will speak at a forum in Milwaukee.
  • This upcoming Saturday, April 2, Donald Trump will be hosting a rally in Wausau.
  • Also Saturday, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will appear at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s Founder’s Day celebration.
  • Finally, Sanders will host a rally in Madison Sunday, April 3, in the Kohl Center.
