This Wisconsin Department of Justice launched a new website Tuesday to allow residents to look up crime statistics for over 380 local police departments.
The DOJ also plans to release more information on the website in the coming months. Before the update, the most recent data available on the website was from 2012. The new version provides data from 2011 through 2015.
According to USA Today Network-Wisconsin, the state did not provide crime statistics by race, but will do so eventually. The lack of race demographics does not allow for research into patterns across different types of arrests.
The lack of race demographic inclusion comes a few months after The Daily Cardinal published an article reporting that racial disparities are worsening in Madison Police Department arrests, despite total arrests falling across all demographics.
The website was supposed to go up in March, but overshot by two weeks, according to the USA Today Network.
