House Speaker Paul Ryan said he will vote for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump in a tweet Thursday afternoon after weeks of speculation as to when he would endorse the business-mogul-turned politician.
“I'll be voting for @realDonaldTrump this fall. I'm confident he will help turn the House GOP's agenda into laws,” Ryan said in a tweet, which coincided with a major speech from Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in San Diego, Calif.

The statement comes after weeks of speculation as to if and when Ryan would endorse Trump. The pair have clashed over the course of the campaign but that began to change in May after the two met on Capitol Hill.
What came out of that meeting was a resolution for party unity.
“While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground," Trump and Ryan said in a joint statement. "We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there's a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal."
But the speaker stopped one step shy of endorsing Trump and has been dodging rumors of an impending endorsement ever since. But Ryan spokesperson Brendan Buck said that Ryan’s tweet can now be considered a formal endorsement.
"[Trump] would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people's lives,” Ryan told the Janesville Gazette. “That's why I'll be voting for him this fall."
