UW-Madison sophomore Beau Solomon went missing late Thursday night while studying abroad in Rome, Italy at John Cabot University.
Solomon, who is 19 years old and from Spring Green, Wisconsin, has been missing for more than 48 hours. He was last seen Thursday at roughly midnight with a group of 11 other students, according to UW-Madison junior Regan Pauls.
In a Facebook post, Pauls said Solomon’s wallet and phone were stolen. He is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches and 220 pounds with dark, curly hair.
University officials are aware that Solomon is missing and are actively working to find him, according to UW-Madison spokesperson Meredith McGlone.
“We are deeply concerned about Beau and are working with John Cabot University in Rome and American and Italian authorities to assist in any way possible as they seek information on his whereabouts,” said UW-Madison Vice Provost and Dean of Students Lori Berquam in a statement. “We ask all Badgers to keep Beau and his family in their thoughts and prayers.”
UW-Madison junior Haley Hallada described Solomon as “one of [her] best friends” and said the past few days have been a “whirlwind.”
“Honestly it's still impossible to wrap my head around it,” Hallada said. “Having faith that he is still alive and that we will bring him home is what has kept us all going.”
Both Pauls and Hallada also encouraged everyone to keep Solomon in their thoughts and prayers.
