The UW System announced the launch of a new website Friday that will aim to connect Wisconsin employers with students.
The website, Career Connect, will allow students to search for internships and job shadowing in addition to employment opportunities, according to a release. UW System President Ray Cross said in a statement that the site will not only benefit students and employers but the state as well.
“We can efficiently and effectively connect employers with resources their organizations need while our students get valuable career experience,” Cross said. “A meaningful job experience can lead to more graduates staying in Wisconsin to raise their families, becoming an integral part of our workforce and economy.”
The site will feature many tools to facilitate employment connections, such as an option for employers to see what majors exist at each UW campus, links to each institution’s career services' website and links to employment data for each campus. Career Connect will also provide a calendar of employer events, such as job fairs, across the UW system.
Career Connect is part of the UW System’s larger “2020FWD” strategic framework; the goal of which is to help provide UW System juniors and seniors with at least one professional experience during their college career and to address future workforce demands. These workforce demands were determined via listening sessions the UW System held last year with business and community leaders.
