Student robbed near Park Street, Dayton Street

A college student was walking down North Park Street, near the corner of Dayton Street, when she had her credit card, ID and cell phone stolen, according to a Madison Police Department report.

The victim said she was walking down the street around 1:45 a.m. Sunday when Melanie Mabirizi, 18, allegedly grabbed her iPhone from her back pocket.

“The victim and her friends demanded the phone back, but the suspect said she had guns and threatened to kill,” MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in the report.

University of Wisconsin police officers intercepted Mabirizi as she headed toward East Campus Mall. That is where MPD officers arrested her for robbery with threat of force, disorderly conduct and underage drinking.
