Pun-loving people everywhere meet and compete at High Noon.

Pun-loving people everywhere meet and compete at High Noon.

Pundamonium pun slam seeks witty 'champipun'

Once a month the High Noon Saloon hosts something so special, so spectacular and so clever that it makes you cringe.

Puns are an acquired taste. Most don’t care for them but a chosen few live for them. The first Tuesday of every month is the day when punatics—like myself—gather and raise a glass to the brave compunitors who battle on stage to steal our hearts.

Welcome to the pun slam, to become the champipun you have to excel in all three phases of the competition.

  • Phase one: Before the start of the event, challengers are given a category to theme their two-minute performance of puns around;
  • Phase two: Probably the hardest phase, they receive a prompt and have only 30 seconds to brainstorm before performing yet another two minutes of puns;
  • Phase three: It’s a pun-off between the top four puntestants to find out who is the pun master.

All of the events are judged by members of the audience who were selected before the start of the compuntition. They rank the punformances on a scale of one to 10, often throwing their own jokes into the mix.

If you think you’re ready to compete in the Pundamonium, show up before the competition early because they take 10 contestants and it’s first come first serve.
