Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine will hold a campaign event at Gordon Dining and Events Center Tuesday night, the campaign confirmed this weekend.
The event is open to the public and starts at 5:15 p.m. with doors opening at 3:15 p.m., according to a university release. To attend, guests are asked to RSVP through the campaign. For the safety of Kaine and all attendees, there will be airport-style security screenings to enter the event.
Kaine will be speaking about early voting at the event to encourage people to go to the polls and vote before Election Day next Tuesday.
The event will take place on the second floor of Gordon's, and as a result seating on the floor will be closed until the event is over to ensure safety. The rest of the building will operate as usual and students can still enjoy food from the dining hall.
The event will also force portions of Lake Street to be closed to traffic between Dayton and Johnson streets, preventing cars and pedestrians from entering.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will also be in the state Tuesday, holding a rally with running mate and vice presidential candidate Mike Pence in Eau Claire.
