A man with a group of people who got off a party bus early Sunday morning sent a Madison Police Department officer to the hospital with an arm injury after the man threw him to the ground.
“The man who attacked her was with a group of people who got off of a party bus, and were carrying plastic cups containing alcohol,” MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in an incident report. “MPD officers, working special downtown safety initiative hours, let the group know they could not possess alcohol on the street.”
After being informed they could not possess alcohol on the street, one man tried to hide his drink and was told he would receive a citation. The officer was then assaulted when a large disturbance broke out, as other men were upset by him being arrested.
Jonathan R. Orosz, 23, John A. Davis, 29 and Peter L. Davis, 21, were arrested for various alleged offenses. None of the suspects were from Madison.
