The Wisconsin congressional delegation urged President Obama Tuesday to approve assistance for western Wisconsin regions after recent flooding.
This follows Gov. Scott Walker’s request last week, asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency to conduct a preliminary damage assessment in western Wisconsin.
Walker issued a state of emergency after flash floods, mudslides and the death of two Vernon County citizens in September.
“Torrential rain caused widespread flooding, mudslides, and damage to homes, businesses, roads, and bridges,” Walker said in the release.

Starting Oct. 5 FEMA will address damage to public infrastructure. The assessment will determine whether or not the state can request a federal disaster declaration.
