A City of Madison inspector found a credit card skimmer in a gas pump located at Genin’s Mobil on the 3500 block of University Avenue Tuesday, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
“He was conducting random inspections when he made the finding on pump five at Genin's Mobil. The skimmer was seized by the MPD and turned over to the FBI,” MPD Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain wrote in the report.
Gas station employees told officers they had checked for skimmers last
This incident is the latest in a string of skimmers that have been found in Madison and Wisconsin. The Madison Common Council unanimously voted Nov. 1 to require all gas pumps be secured by a lock at the beginning of 2017.
